Was there any asylum that shut down and killed its members?

I don't think that happened in the USA maybe some foreign country I never heard of that but It does seem like a good premise for a movie or a book, sometimes people can dream the darnedest things and their dreams turn out to be inspirational and turned into Books I know the group called TAPS paranormal society has visited lots of these Sanatoriums and found lots of them to be haunted anyway check out their site there could be something there
